Bon Abri is a small complex comprising the owner's house and two independent gites on a 5-acre site situated in the peaceful hamlet of Puymangou in the Western Dordogne.
Guests to Bon Abri in Puymangou have the use of all of the facilities and advantages of this property. Orchard House is a comfortable modern building with beautiful views both front and back. It comprises two double bedrooms and can sleep up to six. The Old Apple Store is a characterful old building created from the original farm house and the apple store. It comprises a double bedroom and a large twin-bedded room on a Mezzanine. It comfortably sleeps 4 people. The views from here across the fields and forest are stunning.
Within the grounds the facilities are shared between the visitors to both gites. The gardens are ideal for children of all ages giving them plenty of space to have adventures in a secluded but safe location. There is a swimming pool, a professional standard tennis court and one of the original barns has been turned into a games room with pool table and dartboard - the perfect place to relax over a drink in the evening. The sunsets are quite spectacular and once the sun has set the night sky is ablaze with stars. There is plenty of space to find a quiet corner to sit and read, sketch, snooze or simply contemplate the tranquil countryside. We also have several bicycles which can be borrowed to explore the beautiful surroundings.
As the property is isolated in a region of quiet farm and forest land and within the demesne of a very small village with no facilities a car is essential. The nearest beach is 5 km away on the outskirts of the town of St Aulaye on a beautiful stretch of the river Dronne. In addition there is a beach on a lake outside the town of Parcoul about 7km away. Pets may be allowed after discussion with the owners.
The owners of Bon Abri also have a small apartment in the centre of Carcassonne in the beautiful south of France. The property is set within Bastide Saint-Louis, the medieval 'New Town', across the river from the enigmatic fortress of Carcassonne. For further information on this property please contact us.
